Norma Wiebler, age 87 of Carlyle passed away peacefully at her son's residence in Aviston on Friday January 27, 2012. Norma was born in Breese, Illinois on January 21, 1925 the daughter of Anthony and Rose Ann (Moss) Sommers. She married Herman H. Wiebler at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese in 1944.
Mrs. Wiebler was a cook at the Carlyle Healthcare Center for 20 years. She was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Carlyle. Norma loved to collect sea shells and being near the ocean. She enjoyed reading and will be remember as devoted mother to seven children.
Norma attended Kaskaskia College at the age of 80 to obtain a Licensed Practical Nurse Certification. However, her goal was put on hold so that she could care for her daughter that was diagnosed with cancer. She was one semester away from completing her goal.
She was always thankful for her special friends and fantastic cook Chris Boehler, and her hairdresser Kathy Thompson.
Along with her husband Herman, and her parents Mrs. Wiebler was preceded in death by her daughter: Cheryl Rose Wiebler; her brothers: Richard Lavern Sommers and Larry Sommers; her sisters: Lorraine Higgins, Elizabeth Logsdon, Florence Rogers, JoAnn Kohm and Rose Marie Sommers; and her sister-in-law JoAnn Sommers.
She is survived by two daughters, Norma Jean Maroon and husband Larry of Greenville, IL and Judy Ann Sturgeon and husband David of Richview, IL; four sons, Jerry Wiebler and wife Marilyn of Carlyle, William Wiebler and wife Karen of Ashley, IL, John Wiebler and wife Sheila of Aviston, IL and Robert Wiebler and wife Stacy of Patoka, IL; two brothers: Jerome Sommers and wife Mary of Trenton and Urban Sommers of Carlyle; ten grandchildren: Barb Maroon, Adam Benden, Jerry “Mokey’ Wiebler and wife Dawn, Mary Schultz and husband Garry, Angie Sturgeon, Chris Wiebler and wife Megan, Brett Wiebler, Doug Wiebler, Nick Wiebler, and Katlyn Hudson; three great grandchildren, Lacey and Logan Wiebler, and Justin Schultz.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck officiating.
Friends may visit with the Wiebler family from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Wednesday at the
Frerker Funeral Home
Memorials are suggested to St. Mary Catholic Church in Carlyle and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home which is serving the family.
