Patricia “Patty” Stoffel, 62, of Keyesport formerly of Beckemeyer died Thursday March 18, 2010 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville. Patty was born April 24, 1947 in Cherokee, North Carolina the daughter of George and Alyne (Crowe) Buchanan, they preceded her in death.Also Preceding Patty in death was two sisters: Adlane Matthews, and Linda Selman. Two brothers: Jerry Buchanan and Perry Buchanan.Ms. Stoffel is survived by her significant other of 22 years: Mike Hamilton of Keyesport. Three daughters: Leena Thybeaut and husband Ronald of Hampton, VA; Faith Young and husband Collin of Surry, VA; and Linda Stoffel of Keyesport. Three sons: David Honeycutt of Rocky Mountain, NC; Donald Stoffel Jr. and wife Misty of Centralia; Joseph Stoffel and wife Monica of Centralia. One Brother: Clinton Buchanan of Smithfield, VA. Ten Grandchildren: Buddy Mitchell, Casey Bogart, Ashley Stoffel, Courtney Meskil, Cebaston Ruda, Nick Stoffel, Corey Meskil, Haley Honeycutt, Mary Jane Stoffel, and Addison Honeycutt. One Great Grandchild: Laina MitchellBefore moving to Illinois, Patty spent her childhood in Smithfield, Virginia. She was the greatest friend you could ever find. She loved all animals and was an avid Harley rider. She was also a passionate cook. Patty was a member of Freedom Riders of Illinois, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indian Tribe, and the founder of the “Dirt Dogs Club.” Patty was a “people’s person” and found a friend everywhere she went.Patty chose to be cremated; the Stoffel family will hold a memorial service at a later date.Memorial may be made in Patty’s memory to the Freedom Riders of Illinois, The Clinton County Humane Society, or the ASPCA and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home which is serving the family.
