John P. “Jack” Peek, 82, of St. Rose, formerly of Aviston died Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. He was born January 5, 1928 in Breese Township, son of John and Theresia (Kampwerth) Peek. He married Carol A. Kuper on July 27, 1974 at St. Francis Church in Aviston and she survives in St. Rose. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Patrick (Traci) Peek of Tamaroa and John P. (Connie) Peek, Jr. of Litchfield; a daughter, Theresia (special friend, Andy Cardenas) Peek of St. Rose; six grandchildren, Hannah, Chloe, Madysen, John, Kaylen, and Mario; a brother, Henry (Mary Ann) Peek of Breese; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Arlene Peek of Aviston, Leona Peek of Breese, Rose Marie “Dolly” Niemann of Breese, Maggie Kuper of Dededo Guam, Robert and Mary Kuper of Aviston, Sister Barbara Kuper of East Chicago, IN, Aloys “Turk” and Barbara Kuper of Aviston, and Lue (Virgil) Flenniken of Breese. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Maria; five brothers, Gerhard Peek, August Peek, Joe Peek, Cyril Peek, and Herman Peek; two sisters, Sister Theresia Peek, SSND, and Anna Peek; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Martha Peek, Estelle Peek, Bernard Niemann, Francis “Goldie” Kuper, Paul Kuper, Dorothy Kuper, Patsy Kuper, and Betty Kuper. Mr. Peek was a farmer and also worked for Breese Twp. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 1239 in Aviston. Funeral Mass will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 26, 2010 at St. Francis Church in Aviston with Rev. Dan Friedman officiating. Friends may call from 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2010 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
