Barbara A. Pfau Boss Piere, born on February 21, 1939 in Murphysboro, IL, had the Lord wrap His arms around her and greeted her home on 3-16-2012, surrounded by her husband, children, and other family members. Barbara graduated from East St. Louis High School in 1956. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Baden for 25 plus years where she worked for the Lord in many positions, the last 5 years as an Adult Sunday School Teacher. She participated with her husband, Ed, in the Trucker Buddy International Program sharing their travel experiences with many children at Scott Air Force Base and Highland, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert (Webb) Pfau and Mary Lou (Kraus) Pfau Beasley; first husband, Richard Boss, Sr., who she married on September 1, 1956 and who died on December 21, 1991; a brother, Ronald Pfau; and special friend, Janet Reay. She is survived by her loving husband, Edwin L. Piere, who she married on April 11, 1988 in Nashville, TN, of New Baden; her children, Sherry (Edward) Bray of O’Fallon, IL, Theresa (Rev. David) Manley, Sr. of New Baden, IL, Cathy (fiance, Tim Sage)Tate of Troy, IL, Richard Boss Jr. of Marine, IL, Linda Cook of Shiloh, IL, Steven (Christie) Boss of Mt. Vernon, IL; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Jeanette) Pfau of Belleville, IL; and a sister-in-law, Marietta Pfau of Tacoma, WA; an aunt, Elenora Giffin of Ontario, CA; cousins, David (Barbara) Kraus of Roseville, MI, Tom (Kris) Kraus of Sacamento, CA, Sharon Kay Nelson of Ontario, CA, Mickie Whitaker of Jackson, TN, Ann Manson of Columbia, IL, and Linda (Martin) Roider of Columbia, IL. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service on March 31, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in New Baden, IL with Rev. Dave Manley officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on March 31, 2012 at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials in Barbara’s name may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, First Baptist Church of New Baden or St. Louis Ovarian Cancer Awareness and will be received at the church or Hempen Funeral Home, 15 E. Hanover, New Baden, IL 62265 who is in charge of arrangements.
