Raeber, Helen

Helen J. Raeber, 78, of Breese died Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Countryside Manor in Aviston. She was born February 12, 1932 in Fairfield, IL daughter of Harvey and Hazel (Puckett) Tribe. She married Leroy H. "Roy" Raeber on June 14, 1957 in Staunton, IL and he survives in Breese. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Susan (Michael) McCarthy of Flossmoor, IL and Michael (Cathy) Raeber of Ballwin, MO; four grandchildren, Kathryn McCarthy, Keenan McCarthy, Matthew Raeber and Christopher Raeber; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gladys & Tom Jolley of Fairview Heights, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Lou Fiscus and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Erwin & Lora (Warnecke) Raeber. Mrs. Raeber was a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL, where she earned a Bachelor Degree in Education. She taught second grade in Staunton until her marriage and then she was a homemaker and a substitute teacher in Breese. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Breese. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese with Rev. Lisa Hart officiating. Burial will follow at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2010 and from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children or to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
