Rakers, Walter "Peepers"

Walter “Peepers” Rakers, 69, of Aviston, died Saturday, March 14, 2015 at his home in Aviston. He was born December 7, 1945 in Breese, IL, son of Anthony “Tony” and Leona (Voss) Rakers. Peepers is survived by his children, Aaron (Mandy) Rakers of Trenton, Tom (Nancy) Rakers of Albers, and Allison Rakers of Trenton; 5 grandchildren, Shawn, Christopher, Elliott, Adrienne, and Rhianna; and his siblings, Jerome (Edna) Rakers, Donald J. (Ruth Mary) Rakers, and Mary O’Brien all of Aviston, Howard (Marilou) Rakers of Breese, and Anthony J. “Tony” (Mary) Rakers of Trenton; a brother-in-law, Joe Heinzmann of Breese; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Margie Heinzmann; a brother-in-law, Tom O’Brien; and a nephew; Matthew Heinzmann. Peepers was a milkman for Prairie Farms. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Rev. Joseph Rascher and Deacon Charles Litteken officiating. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2015 and 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Hempen-Nordike Funeral Home in Aviston. Memorials may be made to the charity of the Donor’s Choice and will be received at the funeral home.
