Rensing, Ella

Ella M. Rensing, 84, of New Baden, died Monday, May 18, 2015. She was born August 29, 1930 in Damiansville, Martin and Jacobina (Kalmer) Schomaker. She married Elmer Rensing April 25, 1951 in Damiansville and he preceded her in death on June 18, 2009. She is survived by her children, Dennis (Pamela) Rensing of New Baden, IL, Elaine (Donald) Unland of Beaverdam, VA, Edna Rensing of Powhatan, VA, and Joyce (Mark) Koolhaas of Midlothian, VA; eight grandchildren, Todd Gausepohl, Tina (Gordon) Cocke, Daniel (Meghan) Unland, Jamie (Peter) Pranaitis, Jennifer (Josh) Counsell, Jodie (Marshall) Lucas, Louis
(Meredith) Spies, and Jake Koolhaas; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bertha Wessling of Germantown; and a sister-in-law, Frieda Schomaker of New Baden. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Dale Rensing; a sister, Lorene Rensing, three brothers, Edwin, Norbert, and Harry Schomaker, and brothers-in-law, Art Wessling and Herman Rensing. Mrs. Rensing was a housekeeper at Scott Air Force Base and a member of St. George Parish in New Baden. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015 at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville with Rev. Gene Neff officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015 and from 8 a.m. until time 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2015 at Hempen-Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
