Rensing, Eugenia

Eugenia Rensing, 90, of New Baden, died Friday, April 24, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville. She was born March 8, 1919 in Aviston, daughter of Gerhard & Frances (Hellmann) Rakers. She married Ben Rensing, Jr. on May 8, 1940 in New Baden and he preceded her in death on Nov 3, 2004. She is survived by her children, Art Rensing of New Douglas, Jane Terrell of Citris Springs, FL, Paul Rensing of Toledo, Judy Dudzik of Crestview, FL, Eileen Rensing of Fairview Heights, Marilyn Rosemier of Belleville, Norma Rensing of Fairview Heights, and Veronica Hanson of Trenton; brothers and sisters, Henrietta Kalmer, Cletus "Butch" Rakers, and Francis "Bud" Rakers all of New Baden; 12 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one grandchild; and brothers & sisters, Flora Fiedler, Al Rakers, Hank Rakers, Gerald Rakers, Oscar Rakers and Rich Rakers. Eugenia was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. George Parish in New Baden. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Rev. Eugene Neff officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 27, 2009 and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 28 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. There will be a prayer service at 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the funeral home.
