Ribbing, Marie

Marie Ribbing, 90, of Aviston, died Saturday, July 1, 2006 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. She was born October 13, 1915 in Aviston, daughter of John & Agnes (Dall) Venhaus. She married Vincent H. Ribbing on November 3, 1937 at St. Francis Church in Aviston and he preceded her in death on September 25, 1994. She is survived by four daughters, Elvira "Toots" Tebbe and husband Jim of St. Rose, Ruth Jansen and husband Vic of Carlyle, Marilyn Ribbing of Breese, and Janet Willmann and husband Harry of Breese; one son, Dan Ribbing and wife Martha of Aviston; a sister, Martha Litteken and husband Edgar of Aviston and a brother Richard Venhaus and wife Rita of New Baden; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, James Ribbing, twin granddaughters, a sister Helen Lampe and a brother-in-law, Alphonse Lampe. Mrs. Ribbing was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Francis Parish and Altar Sodality. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Rev. Dan Friedman officiating. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2006 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at Hempen Funeral Home in Aviston. There will be a prayer service at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital and will be received at the funeral home.
