Richard F. “Rich” Goestenkors, 84, of Carlyle and formerly of Aviston, died Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. He was born October 21, 1933 in St. Rose, son of Frank S. and Pauline B. (Strieker) Goestenkors. He married Evelyn M. Schroeder on September 18, 1956 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston and she survives in Carlyle.
In addition to his wife, Evelyn, he survived by six children: Cathie (David) Schroeder, Donna (Randall) Kruep, Lynn (Jerry) Detmer, Jackie (Don) Reeves, Rick (Cindy) Goestenkors, Steve (Lisa) Goestenkors; grandchildren: Jared (Lisa), Elizabeth (Ryan), Julia, Christian, Chris (Megan) Ken (Lindsay), Jacob, Lindsey, Justin, Sara, Anna, and Brett; great grandchildren: Lacey, Sophie, Corrine, Eyan, Kylie, Kynley, Brinn, and Beckham; his siblings: Florence Lohman, Jane Netemeyer, Stanley (Mary) Goestenkors, Charles Goestenkors, Jack (Carol) Goestenkors; and his sister-in-law, Maureen Goestenkors.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Francis Goestenkors and Robert Goestenkors, and his grandson Andrew Kruep.
Mr. Goestenkors was a farmer and a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Carlyle.
According to his wishes, his body was donated to Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck officiating.
Visitation will be held from 8:30 until 9:45 AM on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carlyle.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Joseph’s Hospital, or to Masses and will be received at church or at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.
