Richard William Kavanaugh

Richard William Kavanaugh was born on April 8, 1995 in Belleville, Illinois the son of Cliff “Kip” Kavanaugh and Stephanie (Pfeiffer) Kavanaugh. Rich was a 2013 graduate of Okawville High school. While in high school Rich was a passionate member of the FFA as well as the Model United Nations. He loved the outdoors especially four wheeling, hunting, and fishing. He was a fan of the New England Patriots. Rich was employed at Haas Seed Company in Albers.

Richard William Kavanaugh passed away at the age of 20 years, on Sunday, December 6, 2015 in New Memphis, IL.

Rich is survived by his mother, Stephanie (Scott Odom) Kavanaugh of Okawville, IL; his father Cliff Kavanaugh of O’Fallon, IL; a step-brother: Zachary Timmons; his maternal grandparents: Sharon and Bill Swinney of New Baden, IL, Richard and Kathy Pfeiffer of Smithton, IL; his paternal grandmother Jane Kavanaugh of Ballwin, MO; his step-grandmother: Bonnie Haar and step-grandmother: Colene Odom both of New Baden, IL; his aunts and uncles: Pete (Laura) Ruminski of Wildwood, MO, Tim (Sue) Kavanaugh of O’Fallon, MO, Robin (Tim) Raw of Okawville, IL, Mark Swinney of St. Louis, MO, and Monica (Jeffery) Vasquez of O’Fallon, IL; as well numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather: Cliff Kavanaugh and his great grandmother Thelma Hutchison.

Funeral services will be held at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 10, 2015 with Rev. Gretchen Sterrett officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM and again on Thursday December 10, 2015 from 9:00 AM until the time of services at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden.

Memorials in honor of Rich are suggested to the Illinois Association FFA and will be received at the funeral home.
