Jacquelynn June “Jackie” Riley, nee Summers, 82, of New Baden, IL passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Monday, February 11, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese, IL. She was born April 24, 1930 in Madison, IL daughter of Harry and Leota (Childers) Summers. She married William M. “Bill” Riley on January 28, 1951 in Potosi, MO and was a devoted wife until his death on July 30, 1989. She is survived by her children, W. Michael (Karen) Riley of New Baden, Patrick (Vicki) Riley of Carlyle, and Shirley (Duane) Toennies of Germantown; nine grandchildren, Jami (Jay) Staser, Michael James Riley, Rick Riley, Brianne (Jason) Burcke, Brendan (Jessi) Riley, Joshua Wessel, Jessica Wessel, Morgan Toennies and Brittney Toennies; eight great-grandchildren, Ethan Riley Lemberger, Kaitlyn Staser, Kolten Staser, Brooke Riley, Taylor Riley, Nolan Burcke, Stella Burcke, and Brycen Wessel; two sisters, Patricia Niehaus of Pontoon Beach, IL, and Joan (Jim) Brewer of Granite City, IL; a sister-in-law, Betty Jeanne Wardlaw of Creve Coeur, MO; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Randy Riley on November 1, 1974; a brother-in-law, Bob Niehaus; and two sisters-in-law, Louise Cox and Shirley West. Jackie will be remembered by many as Dr. Paul J. Biedenharn’s nurse but she also was a nurse at Scott Air Force Base Hospital and a dental assistant for Dr. Rehberger in New Baden. She retired from civil service Medical Clinic in St. Louis, MO. She was a member of New Life Christian Center in Trenton and was involved in clothing outreach and bible school programs. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her dog, Boomer. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 15, 2013 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden, IL with Rev. Robert Wutzler officiating. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in New Baden, IL. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013 and Friday, February 15, 2013 from 8 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden, IL. Memorials may be made to VNA TIP Hospice or New Life Christian Center and will be received at the funeral home.
