Rita Haar, 89, of New Baden, died Thursday, February 4, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born November 27, 1926 in Trenton, daughter of August and Theresa (Deimeke) Lampe. She married James E. Haar on November 4, 1944 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Mattoon and he preceded her in death on April 6, 2011.
She is survived by her children, Harry (Doris) Haar of New Baden, Angela (Larry) Eversgerd of Germantown, Donna (Steve) Pasquale of New Baden, David Haar of Chippawa Falls, WI, Paul (Vicki) Haar of New Memphis, and Joe (Lydia) Haar of New Baden; 20 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; 7 step great-grandchildren; three sisters, Rose Ann Chaplin of Scottsdale, AZ, Paula Mae (John) Beukema of Amory, MS, and Mary Ann Helling of Turtle Lake, WI; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Keith & Linda Haar; and she is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Ann Driscoll; a son, James Haar; a son-in-law, Robert Driscoll; a daughter-in-law, Gerri Haar; three brothers, Clarence (Frankie) Lampe, Eugene (Naomi) Lampe, and Edward (Donna) Lampe; two sisters, Henrietta (Oscar) Gain and Kate Lampe; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John & Gertrude Haar; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mildred & Clarence Deutschmann, Lucille & Laverne Klingman, Catherine & Herman Macke, Mary Ann & Edward Ford, Agnes & Henry Macke, John & Florence Haar, Leo & Lorraine Strohl, Willie Chaplin, Ray Helling, Emmaline Lampe, and Betty Lampe.
Mrs. Haar was a homemaker. She was a member of St. George Parish and the American Legion Post 321 Auxiliary in New Baden. She enjoyed playing Bingo.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Rev. Eugene Neff officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2016 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden. The American Legion Auxiliary will visit the funeral home at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Memorials may be made for Masses or to Heartland Hospice and will be received at the funeral home.
