Rodney G. Roberts

Rodney G. Roberts, 59, of New Baden, died Friday, August 5, 2022 at his home. He was born March 6, 1963 in Belleville, the son of Ronnie and Lou, nee Pendegraft, Roberts. He married Ellen Cadell in May of 1982 in St. Louis, MO and she survives in New Baden.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his father and step-mother, Ronnie & Patsy Roberts of Dyersburg, TN; his mother, Lou Jones of Belleville; his children, Amy (Andy) Scharf of Millstadt, Justin (Ginney) Roberts of Freeburg, and Abigail, Ellie, & Caitie Roberts all of New Baden; his siblings, Trish Roberts of Belleville, Laurie (Sam) Simmons of Carthage, MO, and Cindy (George) Fraley of Couch, MO; and his step-sister, Angela Lattimer of Dyersburg, TN.

Rodney was preceded in death by his step-father, Coleman Jones; his grandparents, Gloria & Gene Roberts, and Leona & Orville Pendegraft; and his step-brother, David Petty.

Mr. Roberts was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and a Manager for Sensient Colors LLC in St. Louis, MO. He was a member of the Towerview Baptist Church in Shiloh and the Illinois Motorheads for over 25 years. Rodney loved to play guitar, write songs, and sing. He enjoyed riding his Harley with his Illinois & Ohio Motorhead brothers and sisters.

A Funeral Service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2022 at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 12, 2022 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or to his children’s education fund (checks made payable to Ellen Roberts) and will be received at the funeral home.
