Lorena E. Rolfingsmeyer, 87, of Breese, died Friday, July 17, 2009 at Breese Nursing Home in Breese. She was born April 22, 1922 in Frogtown, daughter of John T. and Elizabeth Anna (Horstmann) Schulte. She married Eugene J. Rolfingsmeyer on June 30, 1942 in Beckemeyer and he preceded her in death on January 26, 1985. Mrs. Rolfingsmeyer is survived by her children, Mary Ann (Jerry) Wobbe of Breese, Edward (Donna) Rolfingsmeyer of Breese, Marlene (Dale) Hemker of Bartelso and Jane (special friend, Eric) Poettker of Breese; 13 grandchildren, Sharon (Andy) Smith, Laura (Mark) Loepker, Jason Wobbe, Amy (Mark) Kuhl, Todd (Brandy) Rolfingsmeyer, Kristina (special friend, Chad Taylor) Rolfingsmeyer, Curtis Hemker, Melanie (Brandon) Rakers, Amanda (Dan) Riddle, Kyle Hemker, Adam Poettker, Christopher Poettker, and Bryan Poettker; ten great-grandchildren, Drew, Allison, Austin, Sara, Meghan, Rachel, Jacob, Justin, Hailey, Nolan and she was anticipating the birth of great grand baby Riddle in November; two step great-grandchildren, Jake Baumgartner and Ashlynn Taylor; a sister, Dorothy "Susie" Holtmann of Germantown; brothers-in-law, Melvin Walter of Highland and Joe Peppenhorst of Beckemeyer; a sister-in-law, Vernell Rolfingsmeyer of Breese; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents she was preceded in death by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank Holtmann, Delores and Vincent Wieter, Delbert Rolfingsmeyer, Lavern and Mary Ann Rolfingsmeyer, Kenneth Rolfingsmeyer, Rita Walter, June Peppenhorst, and Wilbert "Cackles" Rolfingsmeyer. Mrs. Rolfingsmeyer was a member of St. Augustine Parish in Breese. She was a homemaker. Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese with Rev. Chuck Tuttle officiating. Burial will follow at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2009 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the St. Augustine Building Fund, Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Breese Nursing Home Activity Fund and will be received at the funeral home.
