Rosemary A. Venhaus, age 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Cedarhurst of Breese. She was born on September 2, 1930, in St. Rose, the daughter of Bernard and Rosalia, nee Strieker, Schumacher. She married Bernard H. "Ben" Venhaus, Jr. on November 27, 1951 in St. Rose and he preceded her in death on March 26, 2019.
A dedicated homemaker, Rosemary devoted her life to caring for her family and was a proud member of St. Francis Parish in Aviston.Throughout her life, she cultivated various hobbies that brought joy not only to herself but to those around her. An avid golfer, she found pleasure in the game and made lasting memories on the course. Rosemary was also well-known for her exceptional baking skills, particularly her desserts, and enjoyed creating delightful treats for family gatherings. In her leisure time, she loved cross-stitching and dancing on Saturday nights with her husband, Ben, where she showcased her spirited personality.
Rosemary's family was her greatest joy and pride. She is survived by her beloved children, Linda (Larry) Baer of Divernon, Michael (Marilyn) Venhaus of Albers, Phil (Monica) Venhaus of Breese, Bob (Joannie) Venhaus of Aviston, and Brian (Lynn) Venhaus of Ridgecrest, CA. Additionally, Rosemary will be remembered fondly by her 13 grandchildren: Chad (Ann) Venhaus, Bill Venhaus, Nicole (Bo) Gum, Ryan (Anna) Venhaus, Randy (Stephanie) Venhaus, Adam (Jamie) Baer, Aaron (Lacey) Venhaus, Allison (Sebastian) Kaiser, Bradley (Maddie) Venhaus, Justin (Alex) Venhaus, Courtney (Bryan) Hobbie, Lauren Venhaus, and Braeden Venhaus, along with her 22 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Patricia (Jerry) Lampe and Marguerite (Ray) Fabre, and her sister-in-law, Shirley Schumacher, who will carry on her legacy.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Bernard H. "Ben" Venhaus, Jr., her son, Douglas Venhaus, and her siblings and their spouses: Gervase & Norma Schumacher, Wendelin Schumacher, Martha & Bernell Weis, Joseph Schumacher, Thilbert Schumacher, Georgina Schumacher, and Theresa & Valentine Buchmiller.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Nordike Funeral Home in Aviston from 8:30 AM until 10:45 AM.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Fr. Von Deeke officiating. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston.
Memorials made in memory of Rosemary may be made to Mater Dei High School or St. Francis Parish and will be received at the funeral home.
