Margaret A. Schomaker, 87, of Albers, died Monday, September 23, 2013 at Countryside Manor in Aviston. She was born October 11, 1925 in Merino, Colorado, daughter of Julius and Mary (Brueggemann) Lengermann. She married Alphonse B. Schomaker in Highland on October 25, 1948 and he preceded her in death on September 1, 1959. She is survived by her children, Mary (Joe) Collins of Owensville, IN, Catherine (Joe) Riebold of Bel Nor, MO, Stephen (Debbie) Schomaker, and Gerard “Rex” (Judy) Schomaker all of Albers, Rita (Jitty) Winkeler of Bartelso, Isi (Dawn) Schomaker of St. Libory, and Mark Schomaker of Aviston; 13 grandchildren, Joe (Brandy) Collins, Jennifer (Jerry) Boes, Sarah (Shawn) McCammon, Casie (C. J.) Neu, Cole Schomaker, Teresa Schomaker, Connor Schomaker, Robert (Sara) Winkeler, Mark Winkeler, Adam Winkeler, Michael (Autumn) Schomaker, Nicholas (fiancée, Lindsey) Schomaker, and Jenna Schomaker; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, “Tony” Lengermann and Al Lengermann both of Highland, Joe (Roberta) Lengermann of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Leona (Roy) Marti of Highland; a special cousin, Millie Korzenewski of Bartelso; and brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, David and Kay Schomaker, Marie Krausz and Sophie Schomaker all of New Baden. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Sister Julia Lengermann, ASC; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Eleanor C. Lengermann, Cathy Lengermann, Alice H. and Bernard Berkemann, John Schomaker, Vincent and Pauline Schomaker, Joseph and Mary Ann Schomaker, Eleanor and Martin Kamer, Louise and Arthur Buehler, Warren Krausz, Herman Schomaker; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Mary Margaret (Overberg) Schomaker. Mrs. Schomaker was a cook for the Albers Elementary School for over 30 years and she also cooked at Camp Joy during summers. She was a member of St. Bernard Parish and Ladies Sodality, the American Legion Post 1026 Auxiliary, Daughters of Isabella Circle 718, an associate member of the Precious Blood Sisters of Ruma, Clinton County Pro Life and the Marian Movement of Priests. She was also an advocate of the Community Link in Breese. Mrs. Schomaker was very involved in her church and she enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers with Rev. Jack Joyce officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Albers. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Hempen Funeral Home in Albers. Memorials may be made to St. Bernard Parish, Community Link (Aviston CILA) or to the Murray Parents Association and will be received at the funeral home.
