Shelly Mae Schomaker, 48, of New Baden, died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born July 21, 1960 in Highland, daughter of Ralph T. and Isabel M. (Kunz) Hull. She married Richard G. Schomaker on November 12, 1983 at St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton and he survives in New Baden. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her parents, Ralph and Isabel Hull of New Baden; a son, Brandon (Rebecca) Schomaker of New Baden; a brother, Thomas (Jessie) Hull of New Baden; a sister, Deanna (Fred) Lucas of Trenton; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Sophie Schomaker of New Baden; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Barbara and Tom Wolfslau, John and Nancy Schomaker, all of New Baden and Monica and Michael Hellmann of Trenton. Shelly was anticipating the birth of her first grandchild in October. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Albert and Loretta (Fischer) Hull and LeRoy and Anna (Burdolt) Kunz. Mrs. Schomaker was a legal secretary for Keeven & Voigt in Chesterfield, MO. She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in New Baden and was a former volunteer firefighter with the New Baden Volunteer Fire Department. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden with Rev. Gretchen Sterrett officiating. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2009 and from 8 a.m. until time of service Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. The New Baden Volunteer Fire Department will visit the funeral home at 7 p.m. on Monday. Memorials may be made to the New Baden Volunteer Fire Department or to the American Cancer Society and will be received at the funeral home.
