Darlene C. Schrage, 76, of Breese, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Aviston Countryside Manor. She was born on August 17, 1937 in Highland, IL, daughter of Leto and Velma Hitz. They preceded her in death. She married Richard V. Schrage on September 13, 1959 and he later preceded her in death July 6, 1989. Mother of Terry (David) Thole, Karen Gudinas, Tammy (Mark) Vogelbacher, Alan Schrage and Tracy (Clay) Szczeblewski; grandmother of Jesse (Heather) Thole, Ashley (Brock) Rommelman, Joseph (Lindsay Kania, special friend), Amber (Travis) Eilers, Colby Gudinas, Travis Vogelbacher, Wade, Emma, and Nyla Szczeblewski; great grandmother of 5: Quinn & Parker Rommelman, Addison & Aubrey Thole,
Payton Eilers; sister of Jeannine Bell, Joyce (Paul) Musenbrock, Marie (Clete) Henrichs, and Donnie Hitz; sister in law of Bernita Mensing, Arlene Peek, Helen Wolters, Katie Schrage, Alice Schrage, Elmer Schrage and Bridget Zimmerman.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson Ryan Gudinas, sister in law Judy Schrage, Fran Schrage and Elsie Holtgrave, Brother in law Don Bell, Ralph Schrage, Alfred Schrage, Paul Schrage, Alvin Mensing, Gerhard Peek, Benny Wolters, and Gary Zimmerman Darlene loved being outdoors and gardening. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mrs. Schrage was retired from Jim’s Formal Wear in Trenton and Moto Mart in Breese. She was a member of St. Rose Parish. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday July 19, 2014 at St. Rose Church with Fr. Ed Schaefer officiating. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday July 18, 2014 and from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Saturday July 19, 2014 at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese. Memorials may be made to the Clinton County Humane Society, American Lung Association, or the charity of donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
