Edward J. Schroeder, 84, of Germantown, died Thursday, March 10, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. He was born September 29, 1926 in Bartelso, son of Henry and Caroline (Eilers) Schroeder. He married Dorothy B. Hemann May 4, 1948 at St. Boniface Church in Germantown and she survives in Germantown. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his eight children, Ronald (Kathy) Schroeder, Henry (fiancée, Lynda Toensing) Schroeder, Daniel (Beverly) Schroeder, Sandra Hustedde, Nancy (Allen) Beckmann, Randall "Rip" Schroeder, all of Germantown, Cynthia (Kevin) Poettker of Highland, and Wanita (Glennon) Gebke of Germantown; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Alvina Heet of Plymouth, IN, Frank (Agnes) Schroeder and Alvin (Wilhelmina) Schroeder all of Bartelso, and Cletus (Dolores) Schroeder of Germantown, and a sister-in-law, Joanie Schroeder of Germantown. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Henry Schroeder; sisters, Cornelia "Babe" Schomaker, Frances Wiecking, Laurentine Koczur, and Adeline Schroeder in infancy; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Schroeder; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Winnie and Minnie Hemann, Henry Heet, Arthur Schomaker, Oscar Wiecking, Bernie Perr, Henry Koczur, Edward and Marie Hemann, Edwin Hemann, Martha and Theodore Mete. Mr. Schroeder was retired from General Motors Assembly Plant in St. Louis, MO. He was a member of St. Boniface Parish in Germantown. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Msgr. James Buerster and Deacon Rich Bagby officiating. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery in Germantown. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2011 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital or Clinton County Relay For Life or to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
