Schwarz, Marie

Marie E. Schwarz, 97, of Breese, died Saturday, November 29, 2008, at Caring First in Breese. She was born April 26, 1911 in Breese, daughter of Charles and Rosa (Helwig) Dorries. Her dad was the owner of C. Dorries Bottling Works in Breese. She married Sylvester W. Schwarz at St. Dominic Church in Breese on May 3, 1941 and he preceded her in death on August 29, 1992. She is survived by a son, Brian (Blanche) Schwarz of Breese; four grandchildren, John (friend, Tony) Siegman, Robert (special friend, Trista) Siegman, Jennifer (Jeremy)Leath, and Conrad Schwarz; two great grandchildren, Olivia Siegman and Barrette Leath; she is also survived by nieces. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Dorries and a brother Wilson C. Dorries; a brother-in-law Harold Dorries and a sister-in-law, Maxine Dorries. Mrs. Schwarz was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Breese and was secretary of the Sunday School for over 25 years. She was a past member of the Consistory. She was a member of the Breese Women’s Club and the Breese Literature Club and held every office in both organizations. She was a member of the Trenton Chapter OES. Marie enjoyed card games and was the sole survivor of numerous pinochle clubs. She also enjoyed reading, music, old black and white movies, crossword puzzles and going out to eat. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 10 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ in Breese with Rev. Lisa Hart officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Breese. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, December 1, 2008 at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese and from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at the church. Memorials may be made to St. John United Church of Christ Improvement Fund and will be received at the funeral home and the church.
