Shirley Marie Paulsmeyer, age 85, of Hoffman passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Carlyle Healthcare Center. She was born in St. Louis, MO on May 15, 1930 the daughter of Otto and Charlotte Fechtler. She married Richard J. Paulsmeyer on September 3, 1950 in Ferrin and he preceded her in death on December 9, 1988.
In addition to her husband, Shirley was also preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Paulsmeyer is survived by her two sons: Roy Paulsmeyer and wife Brenda and Steven Paulsmeyer and wife Cindy, both of Hoffman; two sisters: Dorothy Lawrence and Barbra Arter; two brothers: Melvin Fechtler and Edward Fechtler; five grandchildren: Steven, Dennis, Ryan, Brooke, and Brianne Paulsmeyer; and four great grandchildren.
Shirley was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman. After her husband’s retirement they did a great deal of traveling. And after his passing, Shirley continued her love for traveling with her best friend Irene Brandmeyer. There are many stories of Shirley and Irene’s sightseeing adventures. Shirley also enjoyed quilting. She made and donated quilts to the Trinity Lutheran School events.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 9 until 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman.
Funeral services for Mrs. Paulsmeyer will follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman with Pastor Stephen Krenz officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials in honor of Shirley are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran School and will be received at church or at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.
