Josephine V. Singler, 91, of New Baden, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at Aviston Countryside Manor in Aviston. She was born March 14, 1918 in Germantown, daughter of John and Mary (Schlautmann) Sprehe. She married Clarence Singler on June 10, 1943 and he preceded her in death on August 10, 2000. Mrs. Singler is survived by two sons, Russell (Dolores) Singler of Huey, Richard (Geralyn) Singler of Carlyle; one daughter, Linda (Jack) Gonzalez of Beckemeyer; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one brother, Joe Sprehe of Germantown. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by seven sisters, Irene Tebbe, Alice Woltering, Annie Diesen, Henrietta Diesen, Catherine Hilmes, Frances Sprehe and Johanna Sprehe; and one brother, Herman Sprehe. She was a farmwife and a homemaker; she loved spending time with her family, playing cards and gardening. She was a member of St. George Parish in New Baden. Mrs. Singler chose to be cremated and have a private service to be held at the New Baden Cemetery.
