Kathleen R. Smith, 55, of West Paducah, KY, formerly of Aviston, IL died Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born September 17, 1954 in East St. Louis, IL, daughter of Glenn and Dorothy (Rednour) Oliver. She married Robin “Smitty” Smith December 12, 2005 in Sieverville, TN and he survives in West Paducah, KY. In addition to her husband she is survived by her father, Glenn Oliver of Aviston; three children, Rebecca “Becky” (Eric) Brown of O’Fallon, Rhonda (Paul) Biver of Aviston, and Bill (Beth) Hegger of Highland; step-children, Sherry (Nathan) Yoder of South Haven, MS, Kristal Edwards of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, and Sheila Smith of Keesler AFB, MS; four grandchildren, Alex Brown, Luke Biver, Joey Biver, and Alice Hegger; one step grandchild, Grady Yoder; two sisters, Debra (Thomas) Thole of Trenton and Sue (James) Olliges of Aviston; Godchildren, Justin Oliver and Nicole Olliges; she is also survived by several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and a brother, Gary Oliver. Mrs. Smith was a senior accountant and enrolled agent for Graceland Properties. She was a member of St. Francis Parish in Aviston and St. Clair County Chapter of BNI. She loved playing with her grandkids, taking walks, camping, auctions and her pool league. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2010 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Rev. Dan Friedman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2010 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Hempen Funeral Home in Aviston. There will be a prayer service at 5 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and will be received at the funeral home.
