Daniel W. Sousa, 77, of New Baden, IL died Saturday, August 13, 2005 at Memorial Hospital, in Belleville, IL. He was born on March 3, 1928, in Southampton, Bermuda son of Benjamin and Virginia (DeSilva) Sousa. He married Dolly E. Flood in 1952 in Bermuda and she survives in New Baden. In addition to his wife, Mr. Sousa is survived by a son, Duane Sousa and wife Theresa of Bradenton, FL; two daughters, Sandra Dunstan and fiance, David Aitken of Bradenton, FL and Cherie Hill and husband James of New Baden; four grandchildren, Alexander Dunstan, Alicia Dunstan, Jordan Hill and Ceara Hill; two brothers, Benjamin Sousa and wife Linda of Bermuda, and George Sousa of Bermuda; two sisters, Lucy Stover of Florida and Eileen Ray of Bermuda; a brother-in-law, Victor Flood of Bermuda and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Rose Corday and Dorothy Lindo and four brothers-in-law, Albert Stover, Louis “Kelly” Ray, Manuel Corday and Johnny Lindo. Mr. Sousa was a retired chauffeur and was formerly a pigeon racer in Bermuda. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden with Pastor Steven Friese officiating. Interment will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday August 16, 2005, and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
