Edna T. Spaeth, 87, of New Baden, died Friday, December 29, 2006 at the Lincoln Home in Belleville. She was born July 18, 1919 in Aviston, daughter of Louis and Alvina (Saeger) Ketterer. She married Richard O. Spaeth in Aviston on October 18, 1939 and he preceded her in death on March 1, 1988. She is survived by a son, Marvin Spaeth and wife Darlene of Trenton; two daughters, Doris Mueller and husband Gene of Belleville, and Darlene Wilhelm and husband Herb of Freeburg; six grandchildren, Rene Decker and husband Mike, Gena Gass and husband Jeff, Chad Mueller and wife DeAnna, Bridget Reeves and husband Chuck, Brent Wilhelm and wife Erin and Chrissy Kelso and husband Dave; fourteen great grandchildren, Kristina & Matt Decker, A. J., Adam & Aaron Gass, Alexandra, Dorothea and Nadia Mueller, Claire, Grace, Hope and Boyd Reeves, and Miles and Flynn Wilhelm; and sisters-in-law, Betty Ketterer of Carlyle, Elvira Kues of New Baden and Verna Frederick of Belleville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond Ketterer, Ralph Ketterer, Edgar Ketterer, Cletus Ketterer; two sisters, Corrine Ketterer and Bernetta Rehkemper; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ervin and Alvina Spaeth. Mrs. Spaeth was a homemaker. She was a member of St. George Parish and Altar Sodality. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be missed by all. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Rev. Eugene Neff officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday, January 1, 2007 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Research or Heartland Hospice and will be received at the funeral home.
