Stanley M. Sprehe

Stanley M. Sprehe, age 77, of Carlyle passed away on Monday, March 2, 2020 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon. He was born on March 3, 1942, in Hoffman, the son of Walter “Curly” and Elsie (Owens) Sprehe. He married Linda M. Hammel in Carlyle in August of 1971 and she survives in Carlyle.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Eric Sprehe and Tim Sprehe both of Carlyle; a sister, Lois Sprehe of Carlyle; and a nephew, Russ Sprehe of North Carolina.

Mr. Sprehe was preceded in death by his mother and father; two brothers: Dean (Ann) Sprehe and Walter “Sonny” Sprehe; and a sister, June Hammel.

Stan was of the Lutheran faith and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked at Granite City Steel for over 40 years before his retirement in 2004.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 6, 2020 at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle. Interment will follow at Carlyle Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 5, 2020 and from 8:00 AM until the time of services on Friday at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.

Memorials made in memory of Stanley are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association and will be received at the funeral home.
