Catherine F. Strieker, 81, of Albers, died Sunday, February 6, 2011 at The Villas of St. James in Breese. She was born March 8, 1929 in Trenton, daughter of Bernard "Ben" and Katherine (Leubke) Hilmes, Jr. She married Lawrence F. Strieker on April 26, 1949 in Albers and he preceded her in death on October 19, 2009. She is survived by four sons, Norman (Colette) Strieker of Germantown, Jim (Louise) Strieker of Germantown, Earl (Bonnie) Strieker of Breese, and Warren (Coleen) Strieker of Germantown; three daughters, Donna (Jary) Huspek of Woodbury, MN, Von Strieker of Tyler, TX, and Brenda Gebke of Keysport; 18 grandchildren, Cary, Ryan, Anne, Jill, Danny, Aften, Austin, Ariel, Clint, Nicole, Christine, Tracey, Travis, Justin, Jessica, Lynn, Joe and Jackie; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Loretta Zurliene of New Baden and Therese Markus of Philadelphia, PA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lorene and Sylvester "Bud" Fauke of Germantown, Mildred Schuchman of Carlyle, Evelyn Strieker of Belleville, and Robert and Irene Strieker of Albers. In addition to her husband and her parents she was preceded in death by her step-father, Frank Kassen; three sisters, Vera Brendel, Dorothy Hilmes and Rosemary Hilmes; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lawrence "Larry" Zurliene, Joe Markus, Eugene "Gene" Strieker, Robert Schuchman, Elmer Strieker, Linda and John Rudolph, and Vincent Strieker. Mrs. Strieker was a member of St. Bernard Parish and Altar Sodality in Albers. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting and crafting. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers with Msgr. Donald Eichenseer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Albers. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, February 7, 2011 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Hempen Funeral Home in Albers. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
