Lawrence F. Strieker, 91, of Albers, died Monday, October 19, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. He was born July 6, 1918 in Albers, son of Henry and Elizabeth (Sudholt) Strieker. He married Catherine Hilmes on April 26, 1949 at St. Bernard Church in Albers and they enjoyed 60 years of married life together. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Norman (Colette) Strieker of Germantown, Jim (Louise) Strieker of Germantown, Earl (Bonnie) Strieker of Breese, and Warren (Coleen) Strieker of Germantown; three daughters, Donna (Jary) Huspek of Woodbury, MN, Von Strieker of Tyler, TX, and Brenda Gebke of Keyesport; 18 grandchildren, Cary, Ryan, Anne, Jill, Danny, Aften, Austin, Ariel, Clint, Nicole, Christine, Tracey, Travis, Justin, Jessica, Lynn, Joe and Jackie; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Bob (Irene) Strieker of Albers; two sisters, Lorene (Bud) Fauke of Germantown, Mildred Schuchmann of Carlyle; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Strieker of Belleville, Loretta Zurliene of New Baden and Therese Markus of Philadelphia, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Vince, Gene, and Elmer Strieker; a sister, Linda Rudolph; and also brothers-in-law, Robert Schuchmann, John Rudolph, Lawrence “Larry” Zurliene and Joe Markus. Lawrence was a veteran of the United States Army and served in WWII. He was a farmer and retired from ANR Freight Company. He was a member of St. Bernard Parish, the American Legion Post 1026 in Albers and the Missouri Teamsters Union. Lawrence enjoyed spending time with his children, grand children, and great- grandchildren. He was a true gentleman and always enjoyed life. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2009, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers with Msgr. Donald Eichenseer officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Albers. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2009 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at Hempen Funeral Home in Albers. Memorials may be made for Masses or to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
