Marcella R. “Marcie” Strubhart, 88, of Aviston, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Aviston Countryside Manor. She was born June 6, 1926 in New Baden, daughter of Henry and Catherine “Kate” (Henken) Huelsmann. She married Paul F. Strubhart May 9, 1950 in Aviston and he preceded her in death March 4, 1999. She is survived by her children, Dennis “Spank” (Mae) Strubhart of Aviston, Fred (Fritz) Strubhart of Bartelso, Richard (Lisa) Strubhart of Breese, David (Kelly) Strubhart of St. Charles, MO, Yvonne (Carl) Ratermann of Breeese, Barb Detmer of Maryville, Theresa (Mike) Maue of Mascoutah, and Karen (Kevin) Schroeder of Breese; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, George Strubhart; and a grandson, Adam Detmer. Mrs. Strubhart was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Francis Parish and Altar Sodality, a charter member and past president of the American Legion Post 1239 Auxiliary in Aviston, and a St. Joseph Hospital Volunteer in Breese. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2015 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Rev. Dan Friedman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015 and from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2015 at Hempen-Nordike Funeral Home in Aviston. There will be a prayer service at 4 p.m. and the Legion Auxiliary will have a service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the funeral home.
