Thomas "Tom" Albers

January 14, 1931 — October 16, 2013

Thomas Albers of Carlyle died Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at his home at the age of 82 years. Tom was born in Bartelso, Illinois on January 14, 1931, the son of Victor L. and Veronica S. (Hemann) Albers.

Tom is survived by his daughters: Denise Blaha and husband George of Millstadt, Renee Albers of Columbia, Michelle Brown of Columbia, and Cynthia Olson and husband Mike of Chesterfield, Missouri; two sons: James Albers and wife Denise of Freeburg and Steven Albers of Columbia; twelve grandchildren; one great grandchild; two sisters: Mary Ann Burnett of Holiday, Shores and Jean Phillips of Carlyle; and two brothers: Stan Albers and wife Pauline and Norman Albers and wife Jean of Carlyle.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Ethel "Sandy" Kueper and Mary Louise Albers; brothers: Dan Albers and Oliver Albers; and brothers-in-law: Harold "Hoz" Kueper, Mike Phillips and Farrell Burnett.

Tom served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Before he retired he was a general contractor and owned Tom Albers Construction. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion in Millstadt. He had been a member of the Carpenters Union . He enjoyed bird hunting.

Funeral services for Mr. Albers will be Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck officiating. The interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family at the Frerker Funeral Home on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of services.
