Thomas E. Chappell

Thomas E. Chappell, 79, of New Baden, died Sunday, February 5, 2017 at his home. He was born July 10, 1937 in Xenia, IL, the son of John and Opal, nee Flick, Chappell. He married Luwanda Christian on November 7, 1958 in Patoka, IL and she survives in New Baden.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Rena (Richard) Schulte and Tammy (John) Thomas all of New Baden, IL, Andrew (Mary) Chappell of Hugoton, KS, and Amber (Jeff) Nelson of Canton, IL; eight grandchildren, Bryan (Teresa) Schulte, Clenton (Tricia) Schulte, Thomas (Jen) Timmermann, Catherine (Brent) Davis, Chloe France, Max Nelson, Katie France, and Sadie France; five great-grandchildren, Logan Davis, Ethan Davis, Aurora Davis, Caelin Timmermann, and Alex Schulte; two sisters, Elizabeth (John) Burns of Carlyle, and Ruth Beard of Salem; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers; and a brother-in-law.
Mr. Chappell was a member of the Cornerstone Christian Church in Shiloh.
All services will be private.
Memorials may be made to BJC Hospice and will be received at the funeral home.
