Diana Lynn Vazquez, 42, of O’Fallon, died Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born August 19, 1969 in Belleville, daughter of Richard F. “Rich” and Kay (Meyer) Frueke. She married Jose Vazquez on June 10, 2000 in Las Vegas, NV and he survives in O’Fallon. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother, Kay Frueke of Mascoutah; three sons, Derek Jones of O’Fallon, Dustin Jones and Nathan Vazquez at home; two brothers, Rick Frueke and Terry Frueke of Mascoutah; and a sister, Teresa (Greg) Dunning of Aviston; her mother-in-law, Raquel Garcia of San Juan, PR, sisters-in-law, Janet Vazquez, Maria Vazquez, and brother-in-law, Antonio Vazquez all of New York, NY; nieces and nephews, Brittanie and Dakota Sergerson, Joshua and Jenna Dunning; a great-niece, Maddalynne R. Sergerson; and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard F. Frueke; a sister, Deborah Birdsong; two brothers, Joseph Frueke and Larry Frueke; and her grandparents, Alphonse and Virginia Frueke and LeRoy and Pearl Meyer; a sister-in-law, Carmen Vazquez; and her father-in-law, Jose Vazquez. Diana was a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother. She graduated from Southwestern Illinois College with an associate degree in accounting. God saw you getting tired And a cure was not to be, So he put his arms around you And whispered “Come with me”. With tearful eyes we watched You suffer and saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay. A precious heart stopped beating, Working hands were laid to rest. God broke our hearts to prove, He only takes the best. You were definitely the best, Diana, and we will miss you every single day. You fought hard, but the cancer was bigger than you were. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 16, 2011 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden with Rev. Gretchen Sterrett officiating. Burial will follow at College Hill Cemetery in Lebanon. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, December 15, 2011 and from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2011 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. Memorials may be made to the family and will be received at the funeral home.
