Airman Megan JoAnne Victory, 22, of Albers formerly of Carlyle, born February 25, 1989 in Breese, died Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, TX. She is survived by her parents, Robert R. Victory of Summerfield and Missy and Terry Shirley of Albers. She is the beloved younger sister of Christopher (Ly) Brickeen, the adored older sister of Steven Shirley, Jerrid (Donna) Shirley, Kristine Shirley, Haley Shirley, Devon Victory, Jerica Victory, Ambryn Shirley, and her world revolved around being the very best sister Kylr Shirley could ever have. She is also survived by her grandfather, Edward Brickeen, great-grandmother, Eilene Patterson and by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Sharon Brickeen and JoAnne Peppenhorst, grandparents, Jerry and Wilma Shirley and her great- grandparents. Megan was currently in basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX. She was a graduate of Carlyle High School class of 2007 and a student at Kaskaskia College where she joined the Air Force Reserves. She began basic training on May 11, 2011. Before leaving for basic training she worked at Unlimited Living Options in Breese. She enjoyed taking care of Kylr. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2011 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Beckemeyer with Rev. George Mauck and Deacon Bob Lippert officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Beckemeyer. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2011 at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese. Memorials may be made to the Megan Victory Scholarship Fund for a Carlyle High School student & will be received at the funeral home.
