Viola M. Brandmeyer, 96, of Damiansville, died Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Aviston Countryside Manor. She was born December 13, 1919 in Aviston, the daughter of Frank and Theresa (Gramman) Zurliene. She married Anthony A. “Tony” Brandmeyer on April 23, 1946 in New Baden and he preceded her in death on August 7, 1992.
Mrs. Brandmeyer is survived by her children, Richard (Lois) Brandmeyer of Aviston, Robert Brandmeyer of Damiansville, Mark (Cindy) Brandmeyer of New Baden, Greg (Barb) Brandmeyer of Albers, Teresa White of Carlyle, Gloria (Dathan) Santel of Summerfield, Karl Brandmeyer of Mascoutah, and Matthew (Laurie) Brandmeyer of Bartelso; a daughter-in-law, Anita Brandmeyer of Germantown; two sons-in-law, Kenny Timmermann of Trenton, and John (Kim) Hempen; 35 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren; and friend of the family, Kelly Schmitt of Vermont.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two daughters, Joanne Hempen and Natalie Timmermann; a son, Charles Brandmeyer; two grandsons, Casey Brandmeyer and Jason Brandmeyer; a son-in-law, Patrick Poettker; two sisters, Leona Richter and Rosie Zurliene; and six brothers, Henry, Paul, Alois, Lawrence, Robert, and Cornell Zurliene.
Mrs. Brandmeyer was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Damian Parish and Altar Sodality and also sang in the choir, the Albers American Legion Post 1026 Auxiliary, Clinton County Farm Bureau, and the American Gold Star Mother’s Club.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville with Rev. Anthony Onyango and Deacon Glenn Netemeyer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Damian Cemetery in Damiansville.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2016 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and will be received at the funeral home.
