Virginia D. Barfield

Virginia Doris Barfield, age 83, of Okawville passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Washington County Hospital in Nashville. She was born in Buffalo, New York on December 2, 1933 the daughter of Virgil and Mildred (Poston) Hensley, Sr. She married James C. Barfield on August 5, 1955 in East St. Louis, IL and he preceded her in death on August 17, 1994.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons: James Cecil Barfield, Jr. and Ronald Raydoum.

Virginia is survived by four daughters: Debbie (Kenney) Poore of Palmyra, Trudy (Michael) Meyer of Green Bay, WI, Sarah Barfield of Webster, TX, and Cecilia (Gerald) Agnew of New Minden; her son Michael (Belinda) Barfield of Okawville; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol Echols; and two brothers: Virgil Hensley Jr. and James Robert Hensley.
Mrs. Barfield loved music, especially any music from Elvis. She was a homemaker all of her life.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle. Interment will follow at Carlyle Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of services on Saturday at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Shriner’s Hospital for Children or St. Louis Children’s Hospital and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 740 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, IL 62231
