Virginia R. Davis
Virginia R. Davis of Carlyle died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at her residence at the age of 80 years. She was born in Alexander City, Alabama the daughter of George E. and Nettie F. (Bailey) Johnson. On June 2, 1949 in Jemison, Alabama she married Shelton Davis, and he preceded her in death on January 31, 2004.
Virginia is survived by her children: Terry Kruep and special friend Andy Lorenz and Cyndi Rensing and husband Roby both of Carlyle, Glenn Davis and wife Jean of St. Peters, Missouri, Wayne Davis of Carlyle and Ronnie Davis of Davenport, Iowa; two sisters: Francis Kitchens of Kansas City, Kansas and Brenda Lester of Carlyle; 22 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter: Eunice Boyd; brother: Bobby Johnson; grandson: Kevin McCord; and a daughter-in-law: Cindy Fairless Davis.
Virginia was a member of the Ruf-Marcham American Legion Post 404 Auxiliary and the Goldsmith-Terry V.F.W. Post 3523 Auxiliary, both in Carlyle. She had worked for many years as a waitress before retiring and becoming a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be at the Frerker Funeral Home on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Keith Michaels officiating. The interment will follow at Carlyle Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family at the frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle on Thursday from 5 to 8:00 PM or on Friday from 8:00 AM until the time of service.
The family suggests memorials to the charity of your choice and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home which is serving the family.
