Helen Von Bokel, 88, of New Baden, died Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Clinton Manor in New Baden. She was born August 4, 1926 in Germantown, daughter of Bernard and Wilhelmina (Meiring) Hermeling. She married Ferd J. Von Bokel on August 6, 1947 in Germantown and he preceded her in death on January 23, 2007. She is survived by a son, James Von Bokel and wife Mary of Trenton; a daughter, Nancy Von Bokel and husband John Bumpus of Cedar Falls, IA; three grandchildren, Matt Von Bokel and wife Stephanie, Becky Davis and husband Robert, and Sarah Bumpus and fiancé Creighton McEleney; two great-grandchildren, Alex and Audrey; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Magdalene Hermeling of Millstadt, Dolores Von Bokel of Aviston, Ralph Von Bokel of St. Rose, Betty Von Bokel and Mary Schulte both of Aviston, Bernice Von Bokel of New Baden, and Mary Bolhofner and husband Ken of Aviston. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Schulte; two brothers, Edwin Hermeling and Raymond Hermeling; and brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Leo Schulte, Robert Von Bokel, Bernard Von Bokel, Paul Von Bokel, and Mary Jane Von Bokel. Mrs. Von Bokel was a homemaker and was by BestDiscountApp" href="#"actively involved on the family farm. She was a member of St. George Parish in New Baden. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Hempen-Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden with Rev. Eugene Neff officiating.
