Daniel J. Von Hatten, 57, of Aviston, Ill., died Friday, January 27, 2006 at his home. He was born November 18, 1948 in Breese, Ill. son of Adolph A. & Catherine Rose (Huels) Von Hatten. He married Geri Heimann on November 19, 1977 at St. Bernard Church in Albers, Ill. and she survives in Aviston. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Catherine Von Hatten of Beckemeyer, Ill.; two sons, Jason Von Hatten of Aviston and his special friend, Jennifer Albers, and Keith Von Hatten of Aviston; two daughters, Heather Von Hatten of Aviston and her special friend, Tony Falconio and Danielle Von Hatten of Aviston; two brothers, Robert Von Hatten and wife Elaine of Lexington, KY and Donald Von Hatten and wife Gail of Carlyle; and a sister, Rita Litteken and husband Dennis of Breese; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ken & Brenda Heimann of Litchfield, Eddie & Judy Heimann of Aviston, Nancy & Joe Schlarmann and Daniel Heimann all of Breese, Marvin Heimann of Alhambra, Mike &Vicki Heimann of Hoylton and Ronald Heimann, Allen & Sharon Heimann, Joyce & Curt Nobis, and Tim & Cindy Heimann, all of Albers. He was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Linda Von Hatten; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Edward A. & Genevieve Heimann and a brother-in-law, Thomas Bernard Heimann. Mr. Von Hatten was a farm equipment mechanic with Bestway in Breese. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marines. He was a member of St. Francis Church in Aviston and the American Legion Post 252 in Breese. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2006 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Rev. Chuck Tuttle officiating. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2006 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2006 at Hempen Funeral Home in Aviston. The American Legion will visit the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to Relay For Life and will be received at the funeral home.
