Voss, Ella

Ella Mae C. Voss, 83, of Rural Route New Baden, died Saturday, October 1, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville. She was born July 17, 1928 in Damiansville, daughter of Henry A. and Ida (Singler) Billhartz. She married Frank H. Voss, Jr. on June 20, 1950 in Damiansville and he preceded her in death on April 16, 1994. She is survived by her children, Kenneth (Susan) Voss of Mascoutah, Sharon (Robert) Jervis of Aviston, Ron (Barb) Voss of Aviston and Debra (Craig) Loddeke of Breese; eight grandchildren, Brandon (Laura) Voss, Jason Voss, Ryan Voss, Kyle Voss, James (special friend, Melissa Beer) Jervis, Rob (Erica) Jervis, Cara (Trevor) Kehrer, and Eric Loddeke; four great-grandchildren, Sarah Voss, Caleb Voss, Sophia Jervis, and Trent Kehrer; two sisters, Arlene (Hugo) Schulte of Belleville and Carol Ann Billhartz of Damiansville; and sisters-in-law, Margie Billhartz of Breese, Pauline Billhartz of New Baden, Rita (Jim) Sullivan of Trenton and Helen Hemann of Trenton. In addition to her husband and her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Karpel; three brothers, Norbert Billhartz, Vernon Billhartz, and Ralph Billhartz; and brothers-in-law and sisters-inlaw, Robert Karpel, Ernie and Lucille Voss, Alfred and Leona Voss, Wilbert and Mildred Voss, Marcella and Ed Borgmeyer, Gene Hemann, Lawrence and Marie Voss, and Irene Voss. Mrs. Voss was a homemaker and with her husband operated Frankie’s Tavern in Aviston. She was a member of St. Damian Parish and Altar Sodality in Damiansville. She enjoyed playing bingo. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville. Burial will follow at St. Damian Cemetery in Damiansville. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2011 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice and will be received at the funeral home.
