Wanda G. Melton

Wanda G. Melton of Carlyle died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese at the age of 61 years. Wanda was born Sept. 5, 1949 in East St. Louis, Illinois the daughter of Harold & Thelma (Higgins) Cohoon. On Aug. 27, 1968 she married Dennis C. Melton of Walnut Hill, ILWanda is survived by her husband: Dennis; a son: Todd Melton and wife Stacy of Atlanta, GA.; 2 grandsons: Taylor and Noah Melton of Atlanta, GA.; a brother: Darrel Cohoon and wife Sue of Pensacola, FL.; a sister: Karen Gulley and husband Harley of Carlyle; sisters-in-law: Martha Evischi and husband Val Gene and Nancy Gibson and husband Jerry all of Centralia; brother-in-law: Gary Melton of Centralia; nieces: Lorien Schleper and husband Tim & Dawn DeKalb and husband Kevin; nephews Chris Hollenkamp and wife Mary , Aaron Cohoon and wife Darla, Lando Evischi and wife Olivia and Dee Evischi) and wife Pam & Jeremy Gibson; and many great nieces and nephews.Wanda was preceded in death by her parents: Harold and Thelma Cohoon; brother: Leonard Cohoon; father-in-law: Charles (Bus) Melton; and mother-in-law: Florence Melton.Wanda was a life long member of the 1stBaptist Church of Carlyle. She worked in the office at the Breese Journal for over 20 years.Funeral services will be at the First Baptist Church in Carlyle on Friday, Oct. 8, 2010 at 10:00am with Pastor Mark Goldman officiating. The interment will follow at Carlyle Cemetery.Friends may visit with the family at the 1stBaptist Church in Carlyle on Thursday from 5 to 8:00 P.M. or on Friday from 8:00 A.M. until the time of services.Expressions of sympathy are suggested to the Clinton County Relay For Life or to the charity of the donor’s choice and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home which is serving the family.
