Watts, LaVerne

LaVerne E. Watts, 76, of New Baden, died Saturday, January 25, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville. She was born March 9, 1937 in Johnstown, PA daughter of John E. and Emily (Mock) Carrier. She married Frank R. Watts on July 28, 1956 in Johnstown, PA and he preceded her in death on December 10, 2010. She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen D. Sinkey of New Baden and Colleen (Keith) Jermyn of Carrolton, TX; a son, Frank (Christina) Watts of Argyle, TX; four grandchildren, Justin (Krista) Watts, Stephen (special friend, Nicky Myers) Sinkey, and Angela (special friend, Jeff Korte) Sinkey, and Victoria Guetterman; three great-grandchildren, Trevor, Calvin and Silas Korte; two brothers, John and Robert; and a sister, May. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Stephen A. Sinkey; and siblings, Phyllis, Geon, Don, Patty, and Glen. Mrs. Watts was a retired hotel manager for Motel 6. All services are private. Memorials may be made to Zion United Church of Christ Building Fund and will be received at Hempen Funeral Home, 15 E. Hanover, New Baden, IL 62265 who is in charge of arrangements.
