Mildred W. Wegmann, 87, of Damiansville, died Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Countryside Manor in Aviston. She was born July 24, 1926 in Germantown, daughter of Herman J. and Catherine (Heidemann) Wildhaber. She married Herman J. Wegmann, Sr. on May 20, 1947 in Germantown and he preceded her in death on December 12, 1983. Mrs. Wegmann is survived by her two children, Darlene C. (Rich) Toennies of Damiansville and Herman (Michelle) Wegmann, Jr. of New Baden; grandchildren, Christine (Allen) Netemeyer, Bob (Tammy) Toennies, T.J. (Amber) Toennies, Bradley (Kelly) Wegmann, Jeffrey (fiancée, Briana Tebbe) Wegmann, and Abigail Wegmann; great-grandchildren, Nathan (Paige) Toennies, Jayson Netemeyer, Josie Walker, Dakota Walker, Heather Toennies, Kaylee Netemeyer, Gavin Netemeyer, Katherine Whited, and Hunter Toennies; a great-great grandchild, Arik Toennies; a sister-in-law, Valeria Schoendienst of Belleville; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Thomas Toennies; a granddaughter, Ann Walker; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Andrew Schoendienst, Margaret & Lawrence Imming, and Sophie & Ward Kreitner. Mrs. Wegmann was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Damian Parish and Altar Sodality and a former member of the Clinton County Farm Bureau. She enjoyed quilting and her grandkids. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 23, 2013 at St. Damian Church in Damiansville with Rev. Jack Joyce officiating. Burial will follow at St. Damian Cemetery in Damiansville. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, December 22, 2013 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. Memorials may be made to St. Damian Parish or wishes of the family and will be received at the funeral home.
