Wellen, Regina

Regina B. Wellen, 89, of Aviston, died Monday, February 18, 2013 at Aviston Countryside Manor in Aviston. She was born July 27, 1923 in Aviston, daughter of Henry J. and Josephine C. (Markus) Wellen. She is survived by two sisters, Jeanette (Norbert) Haake of Belleville, Edna J. Wellen of Aviston; a sister-in-law, Dolores Wellen of Aviston; and nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edmund Wellen and Bernard Wellen; and a sister, Ruth J. Wellen. Regina worked at Wee Walker Shoe Factory in Carlyle. She was a member of St. Francis Parish and Ladies Sodality in Aviston. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2012 at St. Francis Temporary Church in the gym in Aviston with Rev. Dan Friedman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2013 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Hempen Funeral Home in Aviston. There will be a prayer service at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Parish Building Fund and will be received at the funeral home.
