Norbert T. Wilke, 78, of St. Rose, died Friday, August 3, 2012 at Aviston Countryside Manor. He was born August 30, 1933 in St. Rose, son of Henry and Theresa (Goestenkors) Wilke. He married Mary Louise “Sis” Petermeyer on August 10, 1963 in Breese and she survives in St. Rose. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Theresa (Duane) Wempe of Breese, Michael (Laura) Wilke and Sharon (Jef) Forrest all of Collinsville, and Norma (Scott) Klingsick of Edwardsville; eight grandchildren, Nathan Wempe, Renee Wempe, Stephen Wilke, Michaela Wilke, Noah Wilke, Olivia Wilke, Blake Klingsick, & Drew Klingsick; one great-grandchild, Trent Anderson; a brother, Stanley (Joan) Wilke of Highland; a sister, Mary Agnes (Kenny) Rutz of Grantfork; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Pauline “Pal” Wilke of Aviston, Theodora Wilke of Breese, Rich & Marabeth Petermeyer of Beckemeyer, Ralph & Ethel Petermeyer & Raymond Petermeyer all of Carlyle, Betty & Leonard Koopman of Bartelso, Rita Petermeyer of Beckemeyer, Bob & Carol Petermeyer of Carlyle, & Bonnie Bruegge of Kirkwood, MO.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Veronica “Fronie” Tebbe; three brothers, Vincent, Francis, and Ralph Wilke; a brother-in-law, Edward Tebbe; and a sister-in-law, Bertha Wilke.
Mr. Wilke was a farmer and also retired after 20 plus years from B-Line Systems in Highland. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War Era. He was a member of St. Rose Parish and Men’s Sodality, the Breese American Legion Post 252, the St. Rose Development Club, Clinton County Farm Bureau and a former member of the Machinist Local 660. He had an appreciation for farming and agriculture in general, and was very interested in family history.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 6, 2012 at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose with Rev. Ed Schaefer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Rose Cemetery in St. Rose.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2012 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2012 at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese. The American Legion will visit the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Rose Parish or for Masses and will be received at the funeral home.
