William Dale Craig, Sr., 69, of New Baden and formerly of Cahokia, died Monday, June 6, 2016 at his home. He was born October 6, 1946 in E. St. Louis, IL, the son of William “Bud” and Devota Catherine (Miles) Craig. He married Kathy Harrington in 1968 in Cahokia and she survives in New Baden.
In addition to his beloved wife of 48 years, he is survived by five children, Jeff (Laurie) Craig of Millstadt, William Dale (Dawn) Craig, Jr. of Mulberry Grove, Thomas Craig of Belleville, Kerri Craig Egner of Belleville, and Joe (Melandie) Craig of Smithton; 12 grandchildren, Phillip (Jessica) Buatte, Ashly (Josh) Buatte, Brandon Buatte, Courtney Egner, Chelsea Craig, Cassandra Craig, Cole (Sabrina) Egner, Josh Craig, Jacob Craig, Zachary Craig, Savannah Craig, and Trevor Craig; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Darleen (Walter) Richter of Mascoutah, and Debbie Krill of Carpentersville, IL; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert & Carolyn Harrington, Jr. of Patoka, and Michael & Dawn Harrington of Columbia; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Ann Harrington, Sr.; and sister and brother-in-law, Diann and Ron Forshee.
Mr. Craig worked as a pipefitter on commercial and industrial refrigeration and retired from the Murphy Co. in St. Louis, MO in 2005. He was a former member and past president of the Cahokia Jaycee’s.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2016 at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden with Rev. Gene Neff officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden.
Friends may call Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden.
Memorials may be made to the Jaycee’s and will be received at the funeral home.
