William “Bill” C. Kleiboeker Sr., age 81, of Murphysboro, formerly of Hoffman, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024 at his home. He was born on April 1, 1942, in Chicago, IL, son of William and Marcella (Roberts) Rohn. In 1952, he was adopted by Gus and Rosina (Haake) Kleiboeker of Hoffman, IL. On February 27, 1965, he married Eileen Brammeier in Ferrin, IL. She preceded him in death in 2011. On August 27, 2016, he married Anna Lipe, and she survives him in Murphysboro, IL.
He is survived by his children William (Joann) Kleiboeker Jr. of Hoffman, Cindy (Dale) Kampwerth of Carlyle, and Cory (Annette) Kleiboeker of Centralia; eight grandchildren William (Megan) Kleiboeker, Michael (Abbey) Kleiboeker, Chase Kampwerth, Claire Kampwerth (fiancé Logan Johnson), Carly Kampwerth, Abby Kleiboeker (special friend Russ Parrish), Blake Kleiboeker, and Mia Kleiboeker; great-grandchildren Emily and Logan Boatright, Aiden Kleiboeker, and Adeline Kleiboeker; brother Tom (Paula) Carlson of Idaho, sisters Pat (Roger) Phillips of Chicago, and Karen Bevel of Centralia; In-laws Carl (Louise) Brammeier of Carlyle, Julie Karmeier of New Minden, and Doris Brammeier of Ferrin; several nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his stepson, two stepdaughters, nineteen step grandchildren, and twenty-six step great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law Emil and Quinta Brammeier; sister Betty Ann Dompier of Iowa; brothers-in-law Edmond Brammeier, Delbert Brammeier, Wilbert Zimmermann, Ralph Karmeier, Glen Gidley, and Dale Bevel; sisters-in-law Alrene Brammeier and Bernice Zimmermann; and four step great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Hoffman, IL. He served on many boards, chairman board of elders, board of education, board of trustees, financial secretary, treasurer, as well as an usher. Bill and his wife, Eileen, were custodians for the church and school for several years. Bill was a forty-five-year member of the men’s octet, as well as being director. He was also a member of the Men’s Club, as well as President of the AAL branch 497.
After graduating from Carlyle High School, he enlisted in the Army Reserves, where he proudly served for six years. He was a member of the Beckemeyer American Legion Post 1227.
He was proud to be one of the first fireman in Hoffman in 1964. With this, he was also part of five generations of fireman: his grandfather Henry Rohn, his father Bill Rohn, himself, sons William Kleiboeker Jr. and Cory Kleiboeker, and grandsons William Kleiboeker and Michael Kleiboeker.
Bill worked for the Visiting Nurses Association for many years in the maintenance department before retiring. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and was an avid trapper for almost sixty years. He was a member of the Illinois Trapping Association. Bill enjoyed life and never met a stranger.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman with Pastor Brett Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Hoffman.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 and from 10:00 until 10:45 AM on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman.
Memorials can be made in Bill’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran School, or the Hoffman Fire Department as a tribute to his memory and be received at church or Nordike Funeral Home, 740 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, IL 62231.
