TSgt. Robert J. Wocking, USAF, Ret., 74, of Trenton and formerly of New Baden, died Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born July 7, 1939 in Chicago, son of Lyman A. and Rose A. (Marczynski) Wocking. He married Mary Ann Jansen September 16, 1971 in New Baden and she survives in Trenton. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Robert C. (Ricca) Wocking who is currently serving in the United States Air Force in Rota, Spain, Julie (Michael) Foster of Aviston, and William (Tiffany) Wocking who is currently serving in the United States Army in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO; six grandchildren, Taylor, Malachi, Riley, Mackenzie, Makayla, and Joseph; two step-grandchildren, Hiden and Jasmyn; sisters and brothers, Fran (Harvey) Heck of Marinette, WI, Rose (Walt) Kozloski of De Pere, WI, Laura (Carl) Polach of Marinette, WI, John (Jeanine) Wocking of Zephyr Hills, FL, Lyman (Cathy) Wocking, Jr. of Cecil, WI, Stella (Jim) Boyle of Menasha, WI and Frank Wocking of Marinette, WI; mother-in-law, Viola E. Jansen of New Baden; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carol Moffit of New Baden, Clemens J. & Regina Jansen, Jr. of DuQuoin, Connie & Andrew Collins of Chicho, CA, and Kelly & Obie Farmer, Sr. of New Baden. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, William Wocking; father-in-law, Clemens J. Jansen, Sr.; and two brothers-in-law, Roger Dale Jansen and Robert Moffitt. Mr. Wocking was a Tech Sergeant for the United States Air Force for 18 years before retiring May 4, 1979. He was a member of St. George Parish in New Baden, the New Baden American Legion Post 321, and the VFW Post 3523 in Carlyle. He enjoyed playing bingo and cards. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Rev. Gene Neff officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2013 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2013 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. The American Legion will visit the funeral home at 7 p.m. on Sunday. Memorials may be made to the family and will be received at the funeral home.
