Elizabeth S. "Alice" Woltering, 81, of Aviston, died Monday, June 11, 2007, at her home. She was born November 28, 1925, in Germantown, daughter of John and Mary (Schlautman) Sprehe. She married Edward F. Woltering on November 6, 1946 at St. Boniface Church in Germantown and he preceded her in death on October 31, 1998. She is survived by one son, Dennis Woltering and wife Diane of Aviston; three daughters, Diane Kahrhoff of Aviston, Carol McKinney of Mount Vernon, and Shirley Detmer and husband Gary of Breese; twelve grandchildren, Jeff Woltering and wife Nancy, Shelly Albers and husband Tom, Matt Woltering and special friend Amy Boeckmann, Jenny Jansen and wife Mike, Terry Kahrhoff and wife Dee, Jamie Kahrhoff and special friend Josh Cigliano, Brad Kahrhoff and fiancée Jess Gibson, Darrell Kahrhoff and fiancée Katie Sprock, Stacey Lampe and husband Craig, Mark McKinney, Tracy Detmer and fiancé Mike Bellemey, Eric Detmer and special friend Amanda Barth; one step grandson, Travis Hill and fiancée Kelly Smith; twelve great grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Sprehe of Germantown and one sister, Josephine Singler of New Baden. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two grandsons, Scott Detmer and Joseph Kahrhoff; two sons-in-law, Stanley McKinney and Herbert Kahrhoff; one brother, Herman Sprehe, six sisters, Frances Sprehe, Johanna Sprehe, Irene Tebbe, Annie Diesen, Henrietta Diesen, and Catherine Hilmes; five brothers-in-law, Emil Tebbe, Clarence Singler, George Diesen, John Diesen and Joe Hilmes; and one sister-in-law, Loretta Sprehe. Mrs. Woltering was a seamstress for Lager Store and Brefeld Draperies and had her own business making quilts. She was a member of the St. Francis Parish, past president and member of American Legion Post 1239 Auxiliary; she was a former Girl Scout leader and adviser with Shagback Girl Scout Council and received the St. Anne Award. A funeral mass of Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2007, at St. Francis Church in Aviston with Rev. Dan Friedman officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Francis Cemetery, Aviston. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at the Hempen Funeral Home in Aviston. There will be a prayer service at 4 p.m. and American Legion Post 1239 Auxiliary visit at 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mid America Transplant, Aviston American Legion Auxiliary or Heartland Hospice and will be received at the funeral home.
