Pauline E. Wolters, 86, of Aviston, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at her home. She was born June 4, 1922 in Aviston daughter of George and Rose (Rakers) Lampe. She married John H. Wolters November 28, 1945 in Aviston and he survives in Aviston. In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons, Jim (Carol) Wolters of Maryville and John G. (Marilyn) Wolters of Highland; five grandchildren, Eric Wolters, Kara (Brett) Johnson, Chad (Lisa) Wolters, Jill Wolters and Paul Wolters; two great- grandchildren, Chandler Wolters and Stephen Wolters and three step great- grandchildren; a brother, Ralph (Florence) Lampe of Aviston; two sisters, Rose Isabelle (Clarence) Holtmann of Albers and Marie Litteken of Charleston; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Dolores Lampe of Aviston, "Dolly" Lampe of Breese, Josephine Gunn of St. Louis, MO, Frieda & Edwin "Ed" Schomaker of New Baden, and Ralph & Florence Wolters of Albers; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Anthony Lampe and Benedict Lampe; two sisters, Bernice Von Hatten & Clara Lampe; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Laverne Litteken, Eugene Von Hatten, Otto & Wilbert Wolters, in infancy, Fred "Fritz" & Cecilia Wolters, Catherine "Katie" & John Gress, Mary Louise & Sylvester Ratermann, Cecilia & Aloys "Ollie" Niemann, Dorothy "Dort" & Richard Richter, Bertha "Bert" & Charles Horstmann, Joseph "Joe", Sr. & Marie Wolters and Claude Gunn; and her father-in-law & mother-in-law, Herman & Caroline (Kuhl) Wolters. Mrs. Wolters was a member of St. Francis Parish and Altar Sodality in Aviston, the American Legion Post 1239 Auxiliary in Aviston, and Catholic Holy Family Society which was formerly CK & L of I. She was a homemaker, a great cook and loved cooking and baking cookies. She was known for her Christmas cookies. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2009 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Rev. Dan Friedman officiating. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2009 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Hempen Funeral Home in Aviston. There will be a prayer service at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Francis Parish or to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
